**By 2030, the world will face a 40% shortfall in freshwater resources, affecting 1.8 billion people—most of them in Africa and the Middle East.**

In Sub-Saharan Africa alone, **over 387 million people lacked access to basic drinking water services in 2020**. In some regions, like Eastern and Southern Africa, millions still rely on time-consuming water collection from distant sources.

As Africa's population rapidly grows—**set to reach 2.5 billion by 2050**—the need for resilient, sustainable, and inclusive water management systems is more critical than ever.

### 🇲🇦 Morocco: A national model for resilience

![Employee managing water sanitation in Morocco](/sites/g/files/dvc1886/files/styles/default/public/image/2025/04/A%20national%20model%20for%20resilience.jpg.webp?itok=fP4Brpt7)

We manage essential services in Rabat, Salé, Tangier, and Tétouan through Amendis and Redal. With 4000 employees, we have achieved 100% coverage, 82% water efficiency, and 93% electricity efficiency—supporting Morocco’s sustainable city vision.

We also applies advanced processes to reuse treated wastewater, reducing pressure on freshwater sources. From irrigating public parks in Rabat to supporting industrial reuse in Tangier, our solutions protect the environment and public health while preserving water resources. In 2022 alone, over **7 million m³** of water were saved, and more than **80% of green spaces** were irrigated using reused water in several cities.

### 🇨🇮 Côte d’Ivoire: Securing access to drinking water and building capacity

In **La Mé**, we produce potable water from surface water. With a daily capacity of 240,000 m³, the plant supports a rapidly growing metropolitan area.

In **Bouaké**, amidst an unprecedented water crisis, we’ve constructed a treatment plant with a capacity of 60,000 m³/day. It is fed by a floating intake on Lake Kossou, delivering vital relief to thousands of households. To prepare San Pedro for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations, we delivered a 18,000 m³/day potable water plant in under a year—an ambitious project that brings health, hope, and lasting access to water beyond the sporting event.

In Durban, we recycle 47,000 m3 of wastewater per day to produce high-quality industrial water, saving freshwater for inhabitants.

### 🇳🇦 Namibia: Global pioneers in water reuse

In Windhoek, one of the driest capitals globally, we operate a unique facility that recycles wastewater into potable water for nearly 400,000 residents—covering more than a third of the city’s needs.
