Veolia & PFO AFRICA: A Decade of Partnership and Commitment

Côte d'Ivoire has emerged as one of West Africa’s most dynamic economies. To keep that momentum going, ensuring reliable access to essential resources remains both a national priority and a major challenge.

Since 2015, Veolia and PFO Africa have pooled their expertise with one mission in mind: secure safe drinking water, recover waste and accelerate the country’s Ecological Transformation. By blending Veolia’s global know‑how and PFO Africa’s deep local roots, the partnership has already improved daily life for more than a million Ivorians.

Our most visible achievements involve water. Northeast of Abidjan, the La Mé treatment plant is Côte d’Ivoire’s first facility drawing from a surface‑water source, now produces 240,000 m³ of potable water every day, safeguarding the capital’s supply. When Bouaké faced an unprecedented water crisis, we installed a floating intake on Lake Kossou linked to a 60,000 m³‑per‑day treatment station, restoring service in record time. Farther south in San Pedro, preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations spurred us to deliver an 18,000 m³‑per‑day unit in less than a year, giving the city a long‑term reserve that will serve residents well beyond the tournament.

Beyond water, the former Akouédo dumpsite, once seen as a blight on Abidjan, has been reborn as an urban park and a source of clean energy. Each year the project will prevent nearly 80,000 tons of CO₂ emissions while treating 80,000 m³ of leachate that would otherwise pollute the environment.

None of this would be possible without the passion of our teams. Their technical skills, dedication to training, and uncompromising health‑and‑safety standards are the bedrock of our partnership. To every team member, we offer heartfelt thanks: your work turns each project into a collective success.
